Collections
Group assets together without moving them. One asset, many collections.
What collections are
Collections group assets without changing where their files are stored. An asset stays in its folder and can belong to multiple collections. Think of collections like playlists for your visual content.
Use collections when you need assets grouped by purpose rather than location. For example: "Homepage banners", "Q2 campaign", or "Needs review".
Creating a collection
Open the Collections panel in the sidebar and click "New collection". Give it a name and optionally a description. You can also select assets, right-click, and choose "Add to collection".
Adding and removing assets
Select one or more assets, right-click, and choose "Add to collection". Pick from your existing collections or create a new one. You can also drag assets directly onto a collection in the sidebar.
To remove an asset from a collection, open the collection, select the asset, and click "Remove from collection". This does not delete the file. It just removes the reference.
Nesting collections
Manual collections can be nested inside other manual collections. Open the collection actions menu and choose "Move" to select a parent. Smart collections cannot be moved into this hierarchy.
For example, you might have a "Campaigns" parent collection with "Spring 2025", "Summer 2025", and "Holiday 2025" nested inside it.
How collections differ from folders
Folders are like filing cabinets. Each file goes in one drawer. Collections are like labels. You can stick as many labels on a file as you want. An image of a red sneaker can live in the "Footwear/Sneakers" folder while also belonging to the "Homepage", "Summer Sale", and "Social Media" collections.
Deleting a collection never deletes the assets inside it. The files remain in their folders. Only the grouping goes away.
Collection actions
Open a collection’s actions menu to edit its name or description, share it, move a manual collection, or delete it. Collections are listed by name. Available actions depend on your permissions.
Smart collections
Want collections that populate themselves automatically? Check out smart collections. They use rules to include assets that match specific criteria, no manual curation needed.
