Organise files
Use folders and favourites, move and rename files, restore files from the trash and merge duplicate copies.
Keep the library tidy: sort files into folders, mark the ones you use most, clear out copies and get back files you deleted by mistake. Before anything leaves the library, Studio tells you which products would lose an image.

Work with folders
Create a folder
- Open the folder where the new folder should go.
- Select New > New folder.
- Enter the Folder name and select Create folder.
Rename a folder: right-click it, select Rename and enter the new name.
Move files or folders
- Select the files or folders.
- Right-click and select Move to…, or use More actions > Move to… on the selection bar.
- Choose the folder. Use Search folders... to find it, or New folder to make one.
- Select Move here.
You can also drag files onto a folder card. Copy to… works like Move to… but leaves the files where they are.
Find your way: the path at the top of the library shows where you are. Select Assets to go back to the top, or Show full folder path to see every level. Press Backspace to go up one folder when nothing is selected.
Rename a file
Right-click the file and select Rename, or select it and press F2.
Mark favourites
Favourites are your personal shortlist. Other members do not see them.
- Right-click a file and select Add to favorites, or select it and press F.
- To remove it, select Remove from favorites or press F again.
- To see all your favourites, select Assets > Favorites in the sidebar.
Delete files and restore them
When you delete a file, it goes to the trash. The trash keeps files for 30 days, then deletes them for good.
- Select the files.
- Right-click and select Delete, or select More actions > Move to trash on the selection bar. You can also press ⌘ Backspace (Mac) or Ctrl Backspace.
- If Studio shows which products would lose an image, check the list and confirm.
Check where a file is used before you delete it
Before files go to the trash, Studio checks the products that use them. If a product image slot would become empty, such as a product's Main image or Gallery, Studio names the products and slots. For more than three slots, it shows the full list in a panel. Nothing moves until you confirm with Move to trash.
You can also check a file at any time: the Used in column, the Used in tab of the details panel, or the file's own page. See Assets.
Delete folder… does not use the trash. The folder and everything in it are deleted for good, and you cannot undo it. Move the files you want to keep out of the folder first.
Restore or delete forever
- Select Assets > Trash in the sidebar.
- Select the files.
- Select Restore to put them back in the library, or Delete forever to remove them now.
Empty trash deletes everything in the trash at once. You cannot undo it.
Find and merge duplicates
Studio spots files that are byte-for-byte copies of each other, even under different names.
- In the library, open the Duplicates view from the views menu.
- Open a file and select the Similar tab in the details panel. Copies appear under Same image.
- Select Merge….
- In Merge duplicates, choose the File to keep. Studio suggests the file that products already use, or else the oldest.
- Select Merge. The button shows how many copies it merges.
Merging moves each product link from the copies to the file you keep. If the kept file already fills that slot, the slot stays as it is. The copies go to the trash. Select Undo in the message that appears to reverse the merge. Studio can undo a merge for 24 hours.
If two files look the same but should both stay, select Not a duplicate. Studio stops showing them as a pair.
On the Growth and Enterprise plans, the Similar tab also shows Visual near-duplicates: photos that look alike but are not exact copies, such as the same shot saved at another size. You can review them, but only exact copies can be merged.
