Versions and comments
See every version of a file, compare two, restore an older one, and mark up images with pins, arrows, boxes and drawings.
Studio keeps every version of a file. You can compare versions, go back to an older one without losing the newer ones, and leave comments that point at an exact spot on the image. Comments belong to the version they were made on, so feedback on v1 does not get mixed up with v2.

What makes a new version
A file gets a new version when you:
- upload a new version of it,
- save an edit in the image editor with Save as version,
- apply an AI result to it with Apply as new version,
- use a file made from it with Use as version,
- restore an older version.
See the versions
Open the file. A strip of versions runs under the image. Each version shows how many open comments it has.
To add a version yourself, select New version at the end of the strip and choose the file.
Right-click a version, or select it, for these actions:
- Compare with current
- Restore this version
- Download
- Delete version
Look at an older version
- Select an older version in the strip.
- A bar above the image shows Showing v1 from and its date.
- Select Compare, Restore or Back to current.
While you look at an older version, the record notes that the details belong to the current version. Download downloads the version you are looking at.
Compare versions
Select Compare or press \. Studio shows this version and the one before it in one frame, with a slider between them. Drag the slider to see the change. For a file made from another file, such as an AI result, Studio compares it with the original.
Press Esc to close the comparison.
Restore an older version
Restoring never deletes anything. Studio copies the older file into a new version on top.
- Select the version you want back.
- Select Restore.
- Studio explains what will happen. Select Restore as v4 (the new version number).
Channels keep their current image until you send the new version. See Send a new version to Shopify.
Comment on an image
- Open an image and select Comment, or press C. A toolbar appears under the image.
- Choose a mark:
- Pin marks one point.
- Arrow points from one spot to another.
- Box frames an area.
- Draw lets you draw freehand.
- Choose a colour: amber, red, blue or green.
- Click or drag on the image to place the mark. Undo last removes the last mark.
- Type your comment in Add a comment.
- Select Post, or press ⌘ Enter (Mac) or Ctrl Enter. When a pin waits to be placed, the button reads Pin.
- Select Done to leave mark-up mode.
Each comment is tied to the version on screen. The image shows the marks for that version.
For videos, PDFs and other files, you can leave comments without marks.
Resolve and reopen comments
When a comment is dealt with, select Resolve on it. Its mark stays on the image but shows as done, and the version's count of open comments goes down. Select Reopen to bring it back.
Comments have no replies or mentions. To answer one, add a new comment.
